Flying Kites Flying Dreams

When summer comes with blazing heat
And children seek for some delight
They take their kites of shapes and hues
And fly them high in the air so blue
The kites do dance upon the breeze
And children laugh with hearts at ease
They dream of flying like the kites
And reaching for the stars so bright
But summer days do not last long
And children grow and change their song
They leave their kites and dreams behind
And face the world with troubled mind
Yet sometimes when they look above
And see the kites they used to love
They feel a pang of sweet regret
And wish they could be children yet
