A Cahya Legawa's Les pèlerins au-dessus des nuages

Prompt tulisan harian
Seandainya Anda memiliki papan reklame di jalan bebas hambatan, apa isinya?

Cruising down the freeway, the asphalt blurs beneath your tires. The speedometer needle nudges towards 80 mph, adrenaline pumping as you inch closer to your destination. But amidst the rush, a chilling reality lurks.

At 70 mph, your car travels 102.667 feet every second. That’s the distance of a football field, swallowed whole in a blink.

Then, disaster strikes. A red blur darts across the lanes, a brake light winks out. Your foot slams the pedal, but physics takes over. It takes 2 seconds for your brain to register, 21.469 feet for your car to screech to a halt.

The numbers paint a grim picture. In that split second, you’ve covered the length of two football fields, hurtling towards an uncertain future. Will those precious feet be enough to avoid the unthinkable?

Driving safely isn’t just about following rules or avoiding tickets. It’s about a delicate dance with physics, a gamble with split-second decisions. Every mile above the limit shrinks that buffer, teetering you on the edge of chaos.

So, the next time you feel the urge to push the pedal, remember this: the freeway is no racetrack. It’s a shared artery, pulsing with life. Respect its rhythm, drive with awareness, and arrive not just faster, but safer.

Because at the end of the road, isn’t the destination sweeter, savored with the knowledge that every precious mile was navigated with care?

So, my board would be placed with many examples how we can encourage safety driving behavior for the drivers in a freeway.

1. Buckle Up for Safety:

  • Image: A close-up of a seatbelt clicking into place.
  • Message: “Click it or ticket! Buckle up before you hit the road. It’s the law and it saves lives.”

2. Eyes on the Road, Hands on the Wheel:

  • Image: A driver’s hands gripping the steering wheel, with a phone blurred out in the background.
  • Message: “Distractions can be deadly. Put down your phone, eat later, and keep your eyes on the road.”

3. Mind the Gap, Maintain Space:

  • Image: Two cars driving next to each other with a safe distance between them.
  • Message: “Tailgating is a recipe for disaster. Keep a safe following distance and give yourself room to react.”

4. Speed Kills, Slow Down and Stay Alive:

  • Image: A speedometer needle hovering just below the speed limit.
  • Message: “The extra minute won’t be worth it. Obey the speed limit and arrive safely at your destination.”

5. Share the Road, Courtesy Counts:

  • Image: A car merging onto the freeway with a truck yielding the right of way.
  • Message: “We all share the road. Be courteous, use your turn signals, and yield to merging traffic.”

6. Family is Precious:

  • Image: A family laughing and enjoying a road trip.
  • Message: “Make memories, not accidents. Drive safely and enjoy the journey.”
