Melindungi Hak Cipta Blog Dengan Digital Signature Dari Digiprove

Jika Anda sempat membaca tulisan saya bulan lalu mengenai “Panduan Memerangi Plagiat Blog”, di sana ada salah satu langkah menggunakan plugin Copyright Proof pada blog bermesin WordPress seperti blog yang saya gunakan ini.

Mungkin kita bertanya apa itu digital signature dan apa fungsinya? Wikipedia menjelaskan sebagai berikut:

A digital signature or digital signature scheme is a mathematical scheme for demonstrating the authenticity of a digital message or document. A valid digital signature gives a recipient reason to believe that the message was created by a known sender, and that it was not altered in transit. Digital signatures are commonly used for software distribution, financial transactions, and in other cases where it is important to detect forgery and tampering.

Jika Anda memiliki dokumen digital, dan membubuhi tanda tangan digital di atasnya – itu berarti dokumen tersebut adalah buatan Anda, tanggung jawab Anda, dan hak ciptanya ada pada Anda, dan tidak diubah selama perpindahan di dunia digital. Digital Signature sama validnya dengan tanda tangan resmi pada suatu dokumen yang biasa kita punya, semisal surat.

Lalu apa fungsi kita membubuhi tanda tangan digital ini? Kembali merujuk pada sumber sama, berikut penjelasannya.

Pertama, secara umum digunakan untuk menentukan keotentikan/keaslian dokumen (authentication), meski suatu dokumen atau pesan sering termasuk di dalamnya adalah entitas pengirim, namun informasi itu bisa jadi tidak akurat. Tanda tangan digital bisa digunakan untuk mengotentikasi (menentukan keaslian) sumber pesan atau dokumen tersebut. Ketika kunci rahasia sebuah tanda tangan digital dipegang pada pengguna spesifik, maka tanda tangan yang valid itu menunjukkan bahwa pesan tersebut dikirim oleh pengguna yang bersangkutan (untuk memahami lebih jauh tentang bagaimana ini bekerja silakan merujuk pada “What is a Digital Signature”).

Kedua, melindungi integritas suatu dokumen. Digital signature memiliki kunci yang melakukan enkripsi/penyandian pada dokumennya dengan algoritma tertentu, dan sandi ini melindungi seluruh dokumen secara utuh.

Jadi suatu dokumen yang memiliki tanda tangan digital bisa memberitahukan siapakah pemilik hak cipta atas dokumen tersebut.

Bagaimana seorang narablog bisa memanfaatkannya untuk blog mereka?

Jika Anda seorang ahli, penulis, artis atau apa pun profesinya, menulis di blog memberikan himbauan, pemikiran, ide, konsultasi, cuplikan isi buku yang akan diterbitkan, dan segala sesuatu yang berpotensi menjadi sasaran plagiat untuk kepentingan komersial – mungkin Anda akan berpikir untuk melindungi hak cipta tulisan anda, meski Anda memublikasikan bagi umum. Meski Anda bersikap terbuka pada siapa pun, tidak menghilangkan potensi ini muncul – karena ketika Anda mulai menghasilkan sesuatu di sana ada potensi bagi orang lain untuk menyalahgunakannya.

Saya rasa seorang narablog berhak dan bertanggung jawab dalam melindungi apa yang mereka publikasikan dalam blog mereka.

Sayangnya, penyediaan digital signature hanya bisa dilakukan oleh badan atau lembaga yang memiliki kredibilitas di bidang itu. Dan umumnya jasa ini tidak disediakan secara cuma-cuma, karena penyediaannya memerlukan sumber daya yang tidak sedikit. Namun tidak usah khawatir, ada lembaga yang kini memberikan sedikit kemudahan pada narablog yang menggunakan mesin WordPress untuk blognya.

Jika Anda melihat beberapa tulisan terakhir saya, di bagian akhirnya ada tanda “This blog has been Digiproved”, yang berarti dokumen publikasi pada judul tersebut telah dibubuhi tanda tangan digital yang tersertifikasi oleh Digiprove.

Bagaimana caranya mengaplikasikan ini pada blog anda? Mudah saja ikuti beberapa langkah berikut:

1. Pastikan Anda menggunakan mesin blog WordPress pada area hosting pribadi dengan domain pribadi (.com; .net; .co.id, ,web.id, dsb). Jangan lupa juga memastikan bahwa Anda telah menggunakan PHP 5 atau setelahnya.
2. Masuk ke plugin wordpress dan unduh plugin Copyright Proof (Digiproveblog).
3. Unggah digiproveblog ke lokasi “/wp-content/plugin/” (bisa lebih mudah dengan FTP client) kemudian aktivasi melalui halaman plugin.
4. Masuk ke halaman setting digiprove setelah plugin aktif.
5. Jawab pertanyaan “Registered Digiprove User?”
   • Jika Anda sudah teregistrasi sebagai pengguna Digiprove, masukkan data login anda di sana.
   • Jika Anda belum teregistrasi, pilih opsi “Do you want to register now” kemudian lakukan registrasi dan kembali pada poin sebelumnya (registrasi gratis).
6. Anda akan dikirimkan email untuk melakukan aktivasi.

Jika semua proses di atas telah usai, Anda bisa melihat tulisan anda selanjutnya memiliki tanda tangan digital seperti pada tulisan saya ini.

Lalu apakah layanan ini sepenuhnya gratis? Saya sempat melakukan konfirmasi ke pihak Digiprove, dan ya, untuk blog layanan basis atau hanya bersifat mendasar diberikan secara cuma-cuma, tentu saja untuk keperluan yang lebih besar selain blog, akan ada biayanya. Dengan telah seizin pihak Digiprove saya akan menampilkan email yang menjelaskan tentang hal ini.

I’ll try to clear up the confusion about the mixed messages on our website and with the plug-in.  Any Digiproving activity initiated through Copyright Proof costs zero credits, so it is in fact absolutely free.
Digiproving activity initiated on the web site does use up credits, and therefore (after the first 3 credits are used) there is a cost to Digiproving activity over the web.  This is our core business, and we charge for it (but it’s not expensive).  There has been a lot of work gone into the crypto development including obtaining a patent for the process, and we have costs in maintaining the secure audit trail.
We decided however to offer this service free-of-charge to the blogging community so that they would (hopefully) like the service and help spread the word. It is our intention to continue like this.
Bloggers who subscribe to Digiprove through Copyright Proof are also given free access to all the features of the Digiprove members’ area for one month – after this time nothing needs to be done as the plugin will continue to work.
We have other good news for you – somebody has been working on the WLW side of things today – as you thought, Copyright Proof was ignoring blog posts that came through xml-rpc.   This has now been fixed and is in testing – I expect a new release (0.69) in next day or two which will include this fix. We might release a  plug-in for WLW itself in future but that is a bigger task.

Oh, I’m sorry. I’m writing most in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language). Yes, I mentioned about Copyright Proof, since that post I wrote for Bali Blogger Community who asking me to write about Blog Legal Content. I still have questions and suggestions for Digiprove and Copyright Proof Plugin.
The first one is, Copyright Prof Plugin said that a personal (and education blog) may use it for free. But “how free”? at digiprove.com member area, I found there is a subscription details, there are credits remaining (now: 3) and expiry date. So is there any possibility for personal blog users can’t use digiprove because no more credit(s) remaining? – since I read 1 credit supports for 30 files (I have 2 files digiproved right now), in other words is there any credits limitation for using Copyright Proof Plugin?. There is expiry date, what will happened to my account when it expired – do one need to register again, or do anything else?
If there is limitation for free/personal users, is there any option to digiprove a file or not to, before a blog content published?
I’m sorry I just get confuse, the plugin page said “no cost”, but the digiprove page said limited only for 3 credits (or 90 files) and one month subscription, and cost for more credit(s).
Somehow remembering me to ALWIL – avast! antivirus, they provided free charge antivirus for personal users, and payed one for commercial uses. Is digiprove works the same way?
Sorry if I write to much, just get enthusiast with this service.

I’m very pleased you like Digiprove.
Thanks for letting me know about avast, I will try it out.  Our intention is (like avast) to always have a free service for bloggers or low-volume users.
The most important differences between Copyright Proof and other plug-ins:
1. It is the only plug-in that really provides a protection to the content.
2. It is the only plug-in that provides independent certification of content.
3. It generates a link from digiprove.com (current Google page-rank=4) back to your blog post (one link is not much but it’s a start).
4. It is the only plug-in that has use of Digiprove’s patented technology.
5. Digiprove is one of very few content services that uses digital fingerprinting.
6. Digiprove is the only service to digitally sign their content certificates
7. Digiprove is the only service to have a tamper-proof audit trail (= even we cannot produce a back-dated certificate)
We are delighted that you want to spread the word in the Indonesian community. You may of course quote from our support email or any emails I send you.  And finally, it would be fantastic if you would agree to translate the plug-in for us.

Kemudian saat ini plugin Digiprove blog sudah mendukung publikasi melalui jalur XML-RPC, saya sudah mencobanya melalui Windows Live Writer di WindowsVista, dan Bilbo Blogger (Blogilo) di Linux OpenSuSE 11.2 – dan keduanya bekerjanya dengan sangat baik. Meski saya masih mendiskusikan beberapa bug yang masih ada. Namun ini layak untuk diterapkan oleh narablog yang menginginkan perlindungan digital signature pada blog mereka.
